It is not an easy job choosing a firm in which to complete a legal clerkship and ultimately the the amount of choice that you have is somewhat dictated by your personal situation, your law average and your connections.
Before making any decisions and in preparation for the process remember to think about why you want to work in a law firm, what about each particular firm makes you want to work there and the practice areas that interest you most. Most importantly however, think hard about your experiences, what you are proud of and how to express them in the most appropriate manner.
