Hi guys,
what advice would you offer somebody desperate to get into a career in investment banking. I believe my personality and attributes coupled with the adrenalin and project-based work would best marry me to M&A. I am completing my MSc Finance at present and find the graduate recruitment path too crowded (i.e. unsuccessful so far).

All I need is to get my foot in the door, I have wanted this career for a number of years so given the opportunity I know I won't fail. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

James

Good article. Actually when you submitted this post I was heavily involved in managing the Westpac St George due diligence. For people interested in M&A as a career I would say don't underestimate the amount of effort that comes to nothing and the number of weekends that will be cancelled. On the other hand the adrenalin, rush and energy are very addictive.
